ST IVES

TATE GALLERY

Jamie Forbert Architects designed the major extension to Tate St Ives which opened in October 2017. The 1,320m2 addition extends the original building significantly to include a large contemporary exposed concrete gallery, education spaces, transition spaces and offices.

The architectural concrete frame was constructed on a very exposed coastal site looking out to the sea. The works required very high quality exposed concrete finishes to soffits, walls, gallery beams and roof lights. The site was very restricted and given the exposed coastal location of the site, there were some elements that did not meet the agreed architectural concrete specification. BETOcare UK were commissioned to address and repair these issues.
